Portable Dessert

A sandwich is quite easily defined.
A slice of bread or two, you'll always find.
Beyond that, though, it's anything you want--
A holder for your favorite things combined.
It's only fitting that this month of portable foods be sandwiched by two sandwich poems.  Also, that it ends with dessert.  I've had many a well-rounded meal this month, and many of those have been rounded out by that oh-so-important course at the top of the food pyramid.

Too much dessert is no good, obviously.  But there are times -- final exam times, sick-at-home-because-the-weather-in-LA-is-confused times -- when it's downright necessary.  And when it's quasi-healthy and can be mistaken for breakfast, it doesn't need an excuse.

P.S. What is that acrostic, you say?  It's the rhyme scheme for this month's rubaiyat.  [Insert pun about well-rounded meals and coming full-circle here.]


Dessert Sandwich

Ingredients
  • 2 slices sandwich bread (I used whole wheat)
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Raisin Bran
  • peanut butter
  • Nutella

Directions

Spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread and cover with Raisin Bran.  Spread the Nutella on the other slice and cover with banana.  Press the two slices together.  Smile!
